Sunday hike to Brimham Rocks/Nidderdale

“Brimham Rocks comprises a hilltop covered in strange twisted rock formations, some of which are up to 30m tall, overlooking Nidderdale. Brimham Rocks is a great place for a hike and Nidderdale is designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. This area is so close to Leeds and backs onto the Yorkshire Dales.” Sign up will be as usual, 1.30pm in room 3 of the Union. The cost will be £10.

Weekend trip to the Brecon Beacons

We’re off to Wales again yayyy  – keep the 21st – 23rd November free! “We haven't been to the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales for 3 years now so it's time to return. The Brecon Beacons is a large upland area that comes to a dramatic halt on its Northern edge creating magnificent views. We're based in Abergavenny, good for Pen-Y-Fan, Fan-Y-Big and the Black Mountains.” This is the last weekend trip of the semester so do not miss out! Again, sign up will be 1.30pm in room 3 of the Union. The trip will cost £45. We expect that there will be a lot of people wanting to attend so please come to sign up early to avoid being disappointed. Thank you.

Hiking Christmas Meal!

This is honestly one of the best events of the year so I really encourage everyone to come  Who can resist the temptation of a black tie do with a three course Christmas meal in November? I hate it when supermarkets start putting up tinsel in September but this is totally acceptable! Christmas starts here hikers! 28th of November  leave the walking boots at home and give yourself an excuse to buy a fancy new outfit. The meal will be held at the Marriott Hotel. Sign up will be 1.30pm room 3 of the Union and the price will be £26.50.
Avid photographers of the hiking club listen up *drumroll*! The annual LUUHC Christmas means the annual photography competition is back! More details will be posted shortly, but there will be three categories to enter into, for the avid Ansel Adams to the most avid selfie shots. There are three categories- best landscape, best 'people/person' shot and best humorous image. Prizes will be awarded on the night. Closing date time for photo competition will be Wednesday 26th November at 3pm!
