Hiking Weekly News - 10th October

Hello Hikers!

There was a slightly chilly but splendid walk to Sutton Bank this Sunday with a huge number of you, so thank you to all that came along! And now for another week of hiking wonderfulness!

***LIBRARY SOCIAL*** Wednesday 12th October
8.30pm, Library Pub

Talk, eat and drink the night away with your fellow hikers at the Library pub to catch up on everything in the world! We’ll be in a little room to the left as you walk in the door, kind of behind the bar, so come and find us and our blue hoodies!

***BRAITHWAITE WEEKEND*** Friday 14th October-Sunday 16th October
5.30pm Cromer Terrace

Loads of you signed up super quickly, resulting in this trip already being full to bursting and with a wonderful reserve list too! It’s going to be a spectacular weekend, I’m so so so excited!

Please email me (secretary@luuhc.com) if you can no longer make the trip so that we can put any reserves in your place. If you’re a reserve, I’ll let you know as soon as possible if a place becomes available and then please let me know quickly if you still want to come.

Please be at Cromer Terrace at 5.30pm on Friday night with all of your hiking gear, food for your packed lunches, roll mat and sleeping bag (we will have your roll mat and sleeping bag packed if you’re borrowing them from the club). Take a look at the gear section on www.luuhc.com

to do a bit of a tick-list of what to bring along.

If you haven’t already, then please let me know if you have any dietary requirements.

There will be no Sunday hike this week due to the weekend trip, however Sunday hikes will return next week, so hold on to your Sunday hike enthusiasm until then!

Everyone who bought early membership (before it became £22) should’ve received an email from us explaining the rebate. If you haven’t emailed either James (treasurer@luuhc.com) or myself (secretary@luuhc.com ) then you have until the 31st October to let us know what you would like us to do with this money.

We have given you the option this year to give a £2 charitable donation when buying a weekend trip ticket. On the weekend trip you will then collectively agree on which charity to give the money too. We came up with this idea due to our big decrease in prices this year, so we thought it’d be a good way to put money back into the charities that help maintain the landscapes that we visit, and that help us and other hikers if we have any problems on the hills, as you never know when you might need them.

If you are signing up for a trip, then please only get a place for yourself. Don’t sign up for a friend whether they have membership or not, as we need to know the details of everyone coming on our trips. Also, check your basket to make sure that you’ve added the correct items, before you give us all of your money!

Visit our website (www.luuhc.com) if you have any queries about the club, and if you have any questions about any of the information in this email or any other parts of our club, then please email me at secretary@luuhc.com

See you all soon!
Sophie (Secretary)
