I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and New Year, and that your exams all went well. Hiking is back for 2017, and we’ve got a semester packed full of all sorts of things for you, so keep checking your emails and the Facebook page regularly for updates.
***RE-FRESHERS FAIR*** - Tuesday 24th January
10am-4pm Riley Smith Hall
Come and find us at the New Year Freshers Fair, whether you’re new to the club this semester or have been with us for a while, we’ll be on hand to answer any questions, and help you out.
***LIBRARY PUB SOCIAL***- Wednesday 25th January
8.30pm Library Pub
The first social of the year will be our usual trip to the Library pub for some drinks, a bit of food and to get to know any new people. Whether you’ve met us before, or you have no idea what we look like, then pop down to see us and have a chat. We’ll hopefully be in the little room behind the bar, but look out for our blue hoodies too incase we’ve moved!
***NIGHT NAV***- Saturday 28th January
Time and place to meet to be confirmed
Instead of our normal Sunday hike, we’re going to do a Night Navigation training session on SATURDAY NIGHT on Ilkley Moor. Whether you currently hold a compass upside down, or can navigate blindfolded, you’re welcome to come along to learn some new skills that are a must have when out on the hills at night.
As we’ll be going via public transport, you will just buy this on the day. However, instead of payment, we are asking for a contribution of £2 to the clubs charity account and the Graham Connell Fund.
This sign up will go live tonight at 8pm on the Hiking page of the Union website (DO NOT buy just the ‘Hiking Trip Charity Donation’, as this will not secure you a place on the trip). You will need to be a member to buy this ticket.
If you're new to the club, then please take a look at the 'Gear' section of our website, as we are relatively strict on you having the correct kit. If in doubt, please just ask.
***GIVE IT A GO-KETTLEWELL**- Sunday 19th February
8.30am Parkinson Steps
The tickets for our Give It A Go session are now online on the Union webpage (https://www.luu.org.uk/ents/event/12590/
) for £10, so if you have a friend that wants to try hiking out before getting membership, then get them to come along and see what we do! There will be a range of routes on offer, so whether you prefer a leisurely stroll or a yomp up a hill, then there’ll be something that’s right for you!
Visit our website (www.luuhc.com
) if you have any queries about the club, and if you have any questions about any of the information in this email or any other parts of our club, then please email me at email@example.com
See you all soon, as we have a very busy semester ahead of us!
